Henri Bourgeois : La Bourgeoise 2012SKU :F817/12
Wine Advocate-Parker :
Made from 50+ years old Sauvignon vines growing on flinty slopes the 2012 Sancerre la Bourgeoise fermented partly in thermo-regulated stainless steel tanks and partly in Tronc¸ais oak barrels. It was kept on the fine lees for 7 to 8 months and bottled only after one year of tank and barrel maturation. The wine has a straw yellow color with greenish reflections. On the perfumed nose it is deep, elegant and more fruit intense than the Mont Damnés. Refreshing gooseberry, citrus and forward-pressing tropical flavors are mixed with slightly woody and mineral aromas leading to a very aromatic, elegant, full-bodied Sancerre with a nice mineral structure. The aromatic finish is still influenced by oak tannins which will surely integrate soon. Although the Tronçais oak lends La Bourgeoise additional tannins, the tightly woven wine is currently much more Sauvignon-driven than the Côte des Mont Damnés, which I prefer right now. However, without knowing matured examples of the wine, its potential is obvious and I am curious to discover the truth of La Bourgoise over next 4 to 8 years.
