The unabashedly sweet, deeply gold Pinot Gris- and Muscat-dominated Deiss 2011 Huebuhl is rich in caramelized root vegetables and pit fruits, its herbal pungency and mouthwatering salinity serving as welcome counterpoint on a silken palate to its strong sense of sweetness. There is an admirable retention of primary juiciness to the wine's long finish, and I suspect that its performances will be worth following through at least 2022.
