A rich, gourmand vintage for this lovely cuvée, the 2015 Pouilly-Fuissé Les Birbettes offers up an attractive bouquet of ripe yellow orchard fruits, beeswax, peach, pear and pastry cream. On the palate, it's full-bodied, ample and textural, with impressive depth and concentration, underpinned by surprisingly succulent acids and concluding with a promisingly lifted finish. Like the 2015 Pierrefolle, it appears to be tensing up with some time in bottle--and with almost 1% less alcohol, it was less extreme in profile to begin with.
