Domaine Jacques Prieur : Beaune 1er cru "Grèves" 2008
Wine Advocate-Parker :
The 2008 Beaune Clos De La Figuine incorporated fruit from the majority of the acreage that Prieur re-planted in that site four years previously, so it is not so surprising that it took a back seat to their 2008 Beaune Greves. Here, a dense yet juicy palate alliance of leather, sweet cherry fruit, and roasted meats is accented by toasted nuts, nutmeg, and resin that reflected, at least in part, a one-third share of new cooperage. A slight rusticity of finishing tannin does not significantly detract from this wine's essential richness, and I suspect it will merit holding for as long as a decade.
